Study Skills

“No Study” – I don’t think so!

Every student loves to hear their parents ask “Have you got any study to do?”. Equally, every parent is overwhelmed when their son or daughter replies, “I don’t have any study to do tonight”.

The truth is that Physics and Mathematics students always have study, in one form or another, to complete. In senior secondary schooling, there is always some form of study that can be undertaken, each night.

Consider the following options:

  • Students can read over the content from the day’s lesson
  • Students can read over the content for tomorrow’s lesson
  • Students can summarise recently taught content – either via a notebook, audio recording, or concept map …
  • Students can watch online videos of the recently taught content – either via the textbook such as Edrolo or as set by their teacher such as Juddy Productions
  • Students can complete chapter questions from their textbooks
  • Students can revise past exam papers – either from publishers such as TSSM, TSFX & NEAP or in the case of Unit 3 & 4 subjects, the VCAA past Exams and Examination Reports
  • Students can make a list of questions/concepts that they need to seek help from their peers and/or teachers

A senior secondary school student can never state that they haven’t any study to complete.
