Year 12 Physics SAC #2 – Class 1
Area of Study 1: How do things move without contact?
Outcome 1: On completion of this unit the student should be able to analyse gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, and use these to explain the operation of motors and particle accelerators and the orbits of satellites.
Teacher Handouts:
Section 3.1.1 – Gravitational Fields
Section 3.1.2 – Electric Fields
Section 3.1.3 – Magnetic Fields
Section 3.1.4 – DC Motors
Section 3.1.5 – Magnetic Forces on Charged Particles
Jacaranda Textbook Reference:
Chapter 4 Gravitational Fields
Chapter 5 Electric Fields
Chapter 6 Magnetic Fields
Task Description:
This SAC will be formatted as a written test. Some questions will be short answer and other multiple choice. 70 minutes will be allocate to complete the task with 10 minutes of this allocated to rad over the test.
Students are permitted to bring a scientific calculator and a single sided A4 summary sheet
How best to prepare:
Students are encouraged to read over the handouts provided by teacher and the relevant chapters form the Jacaranda text. Stduents are advised to review the topic via Edrolo. Students are advised to produce their own single sided A4 summary sheet. Students are advised to attempt the 3 Jacaranda topics tests (Chapters 4-6) as well as the VCAA 2017 practice paper (and relevant past VCAA papers). Past itute papers may also be of benefit.
NB: This is a new study design and as such their are no past papers written specifically for this area of study. You can find questions across past papers however they are spread across previously allocated areas of study.
Resources Provided:
Question & Answer booklet
