The Year 10 Science – Physics Exam is scheduled for Tuesday the 25th June in the Kildare Hall commencing at 8:50am and finishing at 10:30am. Details as follows:

Topic 1 Electricity (Notes 10.1.1 – Notes 10.1.7)
- Definitions of voltage and current
- Scientific notation (mA, kV, MΩ)
- Series & parallel circuits; calculations of voltage and current
- Measuring voltage and current using analog meters
- Calculation of effective resistance
- Resistance colour coding; determining the resistance of an unknown resistance
- Ohm’s Law; graph analysis and equation calculation
- Electrical power; P=VI & E=Pt, calculation of the cost of power consumption
Topic 2 Motion (Notes 10.2.1 – Notes 10.2.6)
- Distance and displacement
- Position-Time graphs; calculation of velocity and displacement
- Velocity-Time graphs; calculation of acceleration and displacement
- Unit conversions from m/s to km/h and vice versa
- Average speed and average velocity
- Average acceleration
- Basic ticker timer calculations; calculation of velocity

Year 11 Physics SAC 1A – “How can motion be described and explained?” Topic Test
