Excursion – Luna Park Physics Day
Mar 3 all-day

The Luna Park “Physics Day” will take place between Tuesday the 3rd of March and Friday the 6th of March, date to be confirmed. The day allows students to go on all available rides, to collect acceleration and velocity for later analysis and to investigate the physics behind theme parks. An excellent and informative day for all Year 12 Physics students.  The entire day, including an RAAF fly by, is aimed specifically at  Area of Study 1 – Motion in one and two dimensions.

VCAA GAT
Jun 10 – Jun 11 all-day

All Unit 3&4 students are required to sit the VCAA General achievement Test (GAT).  Contrary to general opinion, the GAT is a very important state wide assessment tool that, if completed to the best of your ability, has the capacity to improve your individual study scores and therefore your ATAR.

All Year 12 Physics students are advised to listen carefully and ask questions when you gather with your VCE Coordinator to discuss the GAT further.

Excursion – The Australian Synchrotron
Sep 9 @ 7:00 am – 5:00 pm

Year 12 Physics students will attend a lab session at the Australian Synchrotron in Clayton.  The day’s program will consist of a general discussion and tour of the facility (the only synchrotron in Australia) and conclude with a series of laboratory activities focussed upon the Interactions of Light and Matter area of study.

This is an excellent opportunity to visit a state of the art Australian based scientific research centre.  The day’s activities provide an outstanding opportunity to hone your skills and knowledge upon both the final area of study as well as the chosen detailed study.  A must for all Year 12 Physics students.
